SPIKE

My first post on this blog. I am devoting this blog to all my NON DRAWING stuff; it could be photos, poems, stories, rants, stuff like that. So here is a photo of my dog. I don't have him anymore. His name was SPIKE. I had tons of fun with him.
Spike was a big German Shepherd. In 1989 I bought a pair of Roller Blades. I didn’t know how to skate back then. I put on the roller blades for the first time and grabbed my dog by the leash. It was like water skiing. Spike was the boat, I was the water skier. I held on to his leash as Spike took off running as fast as he could! Like I said, I did not know how to skate, and my dog was very fast. It was very thrilling! Until he ran onto the highway! Spike was running through red lights! Running between cars! Running on the wrong side of the road! I couldn’t stop because I had no control and did not know how to skate well. Also, there is a rubber piece on the back of one skate to use as a brake to stop. My brother took that piece off of my new roller blades! He said it would get in my way. So my dog was pulling me very fast in traffic and I had no brakes! Cars were honking their horns, people were screaming! Cars were slamming on their brakes and making a screeching noise. I almost caused a dozen accidents! I was terrified! I was screaming, “I’m going to die!” It is a miracle I did not get hit by a car. Eventually my dog ran off the highway, out of traffic and back home. When I took the roller blades off I was shaking like I saw a ghost. And that was my first time on Roller Blades. Good times.
