on the trail

A lovely day for a walk in the woods.

PINE CONE!!

That's not a photoshop trick, that is the biggest pine cone I have ever seen! Imagine that thing falling out of a tree and hitting you on the top of your head. This is in the botanic garden on the grounds of Wellesley College, where my girlfriend is a professor.

BUR

This is the biggest bur I have ever seen. I thought it was a baby hedge hog when I first saw it.

Cool place

My girlfriend and I found this great little place with a stagnant water hole and a cool rock face. We were walking on the school grounds of Wellesley, on a sort of mini hike.

second huge spider

This is the second gigantic spider in my place in the same week. I froze, took a photo and released this guy too.

GROSS BUG

This scary gross bug was in my apartment. I caught it and froze it for a minute so I could take this photo. He was thawing quickly while I took the picture and he started moving again. I was creeped out and could only snap 2 photos, before I had to throw him out.

HUGE!

This spider is HUGE!! I caught him in my apartment after he gave me quite a fright. He jumped out from behind my laundry basket as I went to take the clothes from it. I did not want to kill or squish him. I released him outside. How did I get him to pose for the photo? I caught him in a cup and put him in the freezer for a minute. He'll defrost outside and live to terrorize another day.

CAPYBARA

Unfortunately this picture doesn't have a reference to show the size of these creatures. From the photo they could easily mistaken to be the size of a Guinea Pig....but that would be wrong. These guys are actually HUGE! They are about the size of a baby Hippopotamus, or a big farm pig. These 2 capybara where photographed at the Biodome in Montreal.
